The MacBooks from late 2007 to early 2009 (including the 2008 non-Aluminum models) can have their RAM upgraded to boost performance. In order to determine how much memory your model can take, reference the following:


  • MacBook3,1 (Late 2007): accepts up to 6GB of RAM, 2 slots
  • MacBook4,1 (Early 2008): accepts up to 6GB of RAM, 2 slots
  • MacBook5,2 (Early 2009): accepts up to 6GB of RAM, 2 slots
