Dell PowerEdge servers combine a highly scalable architecture and optimum balance of computer and memory to maximize performance across the widest range of applications. Since the introduction of the Generation 10 servers in 2007 Dell has adopted a standardized method for naming their servers; the name of each server is now represented by a letter followed by 3 digits. The letter indicates the type of server: R (for Rack-mountable) indicates a 19" rack-mountable server, M (for Modular) indicates a blade server, whilst T (for Tower) indicates a stand-alone server. This letter is then followed by 3 digits. The first digit refers to the number of sockets in the system: 1 to 3 for one socket, 4 to 7 for two sockets, and 8 or 9 for four sockets. The

We at NEMIX Corp understand that RAM can be a little confusing at times and NEMIX wanted to be able to provide some common asked questions about your systems computer Random Access Memory.
How to know it’s time for a memory upgrade?
There are multiple signs that can indicate it may be time to upgrade your memory. One key indicator is If you see your mouse pointer turn into an hourglass for an extended period of time, if you hear your hard drive running, or if your computer seems to work more slowly than you expect, the reason is probably insufficient memory. When physical memory is insufficient, the system uses Hard Disk Space as memory. This is called "Virtual Memory". Since access time of Physical memory is in tens of NanoSeconds and Access time of Hard Disk is in MilliSeconds, the system slows down considerably.

An SSD is a solid-state drive that is a solid-state storage device that uses integrated circuit assemblies as memory to store data. Although a SSD functions like a hard drive (HDD), an SSD contains nonvolatile flash memory which has no moving parts to break. This results in a much faster drive and instant boot and load speeds because there are no mechanical moving parts. SSDs are not only much faster, but they are also much more durable and reliable because there are no mechanical moving parts to break. SSDs also differ from HDD in that they consume much less energy, again because there are no moving parts…this allows for much longer battery life for laptops and less energy consumption for desktops and servers. Installing an SSD along with a memory upgrade is the best way to improve your system.
Are all SSD the same? Definitely not! There are many key attributes to any SSD d

A memory upgrade is the easiest way to improve the performance of a computer. Current memory modules are now manufactured mainly in DDR4 however DDR, DDR2 and DDR3 memory is still available. This is a brief history of memory prior to DDR4:
- In 1983, Wang Laboratories created the single in-line memory module (SIMM)
- In 1993, Samsung introduced synchronous DRAM (SDRAM) which became industry standard.
- DDR (double data rate) technology began to appear in 2001-2002.
- DDR2 (double data rate, second generation) appeared in 2004.
- DDR3 technology appeared in 2007.
